The Colt Agent and all 'D' frames made after 1966 have the short, 'stubby' grip frame, usually with grips that overlap on the bottom. Colt Detective Special chambered in 38 Spl with a 2 inch barrel, bright bore and good grooves. The Colt Detective Special was favored/chosen over the 2-inch Colt Commando because it was much smaller, lighter and as the Agents discovered the Colt Detective Special was much more suited for concealment and undercover/covert work.
